Encouraging Parental Participation
Bloorview School Council was established in 1996 as mandated by the Ministry of Education. The School Council works with the principal and Board to:
- Make the school a better place for learning
- Assist with communication between the school and the families
- Respond to educational issues and concerns
- Encourage participation of families in the school life of their child
- Ensure representation on School Council of the diversity within the school community
- Link the school and community
Bloorview School Council has a membership comprised of parents, community representatives, and school staff members. The Council meets regularly to discuss issues of common interest and makes recommendations to the principal on topics such as:
- School and classroom organization
- Policies and Procedures
- Special Education Plan
- Transition of students to the local school system
- School year calendar
