Encouraging Parental Participation

Bloorview School Council was established in 1996 as mandated by the Ministry of Education. The School Council works with the principal and Board to:
  • Make the school a better place for learning
  • Assist with communication between the school and the families
  • Respond to educational issues and concerns
  • Encourage participation of families in the school life of their child
  • Ensure representation on School Council of the diversity within the school community
  • Link the school and community
Bloorview School Council has a membership comprised of parents, community representatives, and school staff members. The Council meets regularly to discuss issues of common interest and makes recommendations to the principal on topics such as:
  • School and classroom organization
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Special Education Plan
  • Transition of students to the local school system
  • School year calendar
